What’s your favorite choice of Dim Sum? @Restoran Taiji Eatery, Bdr. Puteri Puchong

When comes to ordering dim sum, what’s your favorite choice of Dim Sum?

I invited mummy and Marcus to come over to my house over the long weekend. Mummy likes eating dim sum. So, Alex and I brought her to Puchong for dim sum. At Bandar Puteri Puchong itself, there are several dim sum restaurants. I asked to come here again because my first experience here, the dim sum was not bad. Not forgetting most of the dim sum restaurants here are often packed during weekends. If any that look so vacant…it must be something wrong. Either the food or price or probably the service.

Restoran Taiji Eatery is a non air conditioned restaurant. But still bearable with fans on lar. No push carts here…varieties of dim sum are served in big tray. They’ll carry around the restaurant easily for customers to choose and order. If you do not sight any of your choice…probably you can ask the staff whether those dish are available or not. For example, porridge, loh mai kai, char siew pao.

We started with a plate of warm Char Siew Pao (Steamed BBQ Pork Bun). Each plate consist of 2 average size steamed bun.

The pao dough was not hard or dry. Quite fluffy. The filling was moist and tasty.

Nothing great about the Hong Kong G Cheong Fun but it wasn’t horrible la…

Siew Mai (Steamed Pork Dumpling) was okay. Quite meaty.

However I preferred this dunno what name. Similar to Siew Mai but topped with a piece of prawn. Fillings are pork & prawn. Firm and juicy texture.

Yu Mai (Steamed Fish Balls). The fish balls are quite nice I felt. It has firm texture and no strong fishy taste.

The Chicken Feet was just average.

Loh Mai Kai (Steamed Glutinous Rice with Chicken). I like their loh mai kai wor. It was properly cooked. Means no semi-cooked rice grains. And I find it tasty too.

Their Stir-Fried Radish Cake on that day was quite disappointing. Color wasn’t really attractive (look pretty white) and the taste also abit bland. Luckily it has sufficient egg and bean sprout to compensate the overall taste.

Their Wu Kok (Yam Dumpling) was very nice and yam-mie. Its also my favorite. Never miss ordering one. Crisp exterior, smooth and fragrantful yam interior with bbq pork filling.

After meal dessert with a serving of Kwai Fa Kou. I always heard this kuih served in those olden days Chinese emperor palace (watched from tv drama). But I’ve not tasted the real one. This one, the texture is between jelly&kuih. Not really crunchy type. A bit of sweetish taste with hint of chrysanthemum and Chinese wolfberries.

Too bad they did not serve any Durian Pancakes on that day. I recalled it was quite nice.

The price list here. So I’m guessing a basket of siew mai cost RM3.50.

Total bill was around RM48, for the above dim sum, a pot of tea (Tieguanyin) and a cup of Herbal tea. Overall we were quite satisfied with the food and price.
