BLACK Friday!

Today is a wet Friday. It was raining heavily. I started my journey to work as usual. Sat on the driver’s seat, put on my seat belt, (an extra step today) car wiper and switched on the car lights. Started off with  40km/h constantly. In less than 500m, PONG!!! A loud bang on my car…… %$&!@*#

I was shocked! This black MPV car came out from a junction without noticing my car!!! DAMN….. So angry, pissed & heartsick!!!!

The careless driver blamed it on the RAIN*.  To be exact, the main reason “because he was in a rush”!

The careless driver admit that it was his fault and agreed to bear the cost. Most important is that, he must settle the bill of the repair works. I don’t wish to go through all the tedious process too.

CONGRATS to Penang Assam Laksa

I must agree that Malaysia, my home ground is FOOD HEAVEN. One can get varieties of food here.

Recently, CNNGo explored on “World’s 50 most delicious foods” – Some foods you eat to stay alive, others you eat because not to would be a crime. And they came out with a list of food worth eating. Some are still debating on the results, some aren’t satisfied with the result either.

I am so proud and delighted that Malaysia’s Penang Assam Laksa ranked at No.7! CONGRATULATION to Assam Laksa!

Assam Laksa – “Poached, flaked mackerel, tamarind, chili, mint, lemongrass, onion, pineapple … one of Malaysia’s most popular dishes is an addictive spicy-sour fish broth with noodles (especially great when fused with ginger), that’ll have your nose running before the spoon even hits your lips.”

Anyway Assam Laksa is always my favorite. Just couldn’t resist the spicy & sour soup noodle.

My usual Sunday Brunch @ Kopitiam Sin Cheong Kee, Seremban

This is my usual place for Sunday Brunch. Yeap…combining my breakfast & lunch. *hassle free*

Thus I am patronizing this place ever since the “G-Yuk Fun” has moved from Seremban 2 to Kopitiam Sin Cheong Kee located at Oakland Commercial Square. – An ordinary coffee shop serving Chinese Hawker food.  There are 2 stalls which I am emphasizing here. The Wantan Mee Stall & Pork Noodle Stall. Usually I will order a bowl of Konlou G-Yuk Fun(Pork Noodle-dry version). But last Sunday I was fortunate to try this delicious bowl of Laksa Noodle which usually sold out by 12pm!!

Before the meal begins, lets have a cold glass of MilkTea at the price of RM1.40. The ‘teh ping’ here is good! Rice tea flavor combines well with evaporated milk.

There came my bowl of Laksa (from the Wantan Mee Stall). I chose fine egg noodle (used as Wantan Mee). I like it to be spicier. Therefore a spoonful of chili paste will be great! The curry broth is rich in flavor. Aunty wasn’t stingy with the ingredients. I have half hard boiled egg, fresh cockles, fish balls, fried beancurd, spongy taufu pok & fried wantan, all in my bowl of laksa for just RM3.80.

Sis ordered Pan Mee (Flour Noodle)- (from Pork Noodle Stall) for RM3.80/bowl. Instead of the usual peel or flat type, she chose thin, strand type. It appears more like Ramen. These noodles are cook upon order. Caution! Becareful burning your tongue on the hot soup.

Alex ordered Konlou G-Yuk Fun (Dry Version of Pork Noodle) for RM4.00. Hmm….came to think of it…Alex had this every Sunday le.. @_@      A bowl of chewy ‘lai fun’ mixed with dark & light soy sauce, oil and topped with tasty minced pork. Another bowl of soup with pork comes separately. Usually pork noodle has pork intestines, pork liver, pork slices bring to boil together. Here; Alex prefers only with minced pork. You can also opt for soup version of different type of noodle.

Dining with Death – Starfruit can be poisonous

I watched it from Travel Channel sometime ago. Thanks to Travel Channel for airing this great piece of info. Here I would like to share with you guys too….(if you haven know about it)

Gulping down a glass of cold drink to quench your thirst during the hot spell may be an effective way to cool down. How about an icy cold glass of Starfruit Juice??

However, do you know that Starfruit can be poisonous for kidney patients?

With just a small amount of 100ml; able to kill kidney patient within few hours. This is no joke.

I was pretty surprised to know that. After all its just an ordinary tropical fruit.

An incident reported in The Star news.

University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) consultant nephrologist Prof Dr Tan Si-Yen said this was what happened to Tang Gon Seang, who has been suffering a kidney ailment.
The 66-year-old Malaysian was in Shenzhen visiting his son when he passed out on March 29 after eating star fruits and was rushed to the Shenzhen General Hospital where he fell into a coma.
“Star fruits contain a neurotoxin, which is not present in other fruits, affecting the brain and nerves. In healthy persons, the kidneys filter it out. In kidney patients, it cannot be removed and worsens their condition,” he said.
More than 10 other patients in the hospital suffered the same condition after consuming star fruits. Two of them died.
After discovering the star fruit connection, Tang has been undergoing dialysis.
His brother-in-law Teoh Thian Lye, 55, confirmed that Tang had been on medication for kidney problems for three years.

Symptoms are:-

• hiccups
• numbness and weakness
• confusion
• agitation
• epileptic fits

Reason:-

My Tea Break – Pisang Goreng & Keropok Lekor

Pisang Goreng (Banana Fritter) is a common snack food in Malaysia. The banana is battered and then deep fried. While Keropok Lekor is a delicacy from Terengganu. There are 2 types. 1 is the dark grey and the other one is white color(steam). The difference is that both are using different type of fish to make. If you happens to travel to Terengganu, make sure you must try the white steamed one. Served with flaming hot sambal belacan. Its irresistibly!! (hope to provide you with photo)

Last Saturday, I went to City Park, Seremban 2 just to fetch some Pisang Goreng for my tea break. Unfortunately I was too early. Pisang Goreng were not ready. Therefore I returned the following day, at about 2pm. This round I was fortunate – seeing those golden color Pisang Goreng placed in the tray. Ohh ya..not forgetting Keropok Lekor which is yummy too! All are served warm.

This mobile street stall runs by a Malay couple. I specifically choose only this stall because both its Pisang Goreng & Keropok Lekor are good!

A plate of plump golden brown Pisang Goreng for just RM2. (RM1 for 5 pcs). This must be consume while its warm. A bite of it you are able to hear some “krok krok” sound effect. Crispy batter….sweet, ripe & firm banana.

I like to dip the pisang into this bowl of kicap pedas(spicy soy sauce)- sauce was given for free; upon request. How to make the sauce—> Kicap Pedas

There are 2 types of Keropok Lekor here. The thin crispy and the rather plump size(which you can taste it like fish cake). With a value price of RM1 for 5 pcs.

Dip the crispy keropok lekor in the bowl of chili sauce (sauce given for free). Happily seeing it soaked in the sauce…. YUMMM….

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

My recent movie was Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the latest movie directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is the sequel to Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Have you watched all of it??

I personally much preferred the 2nd one – Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen.

Main reason was because………. Megan Fox no longer appears in the latest one – Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Moreover the storyline was better too. Megan Fox’s role was taken off the show! Heard that she quit or offended the director?? (wasn’t quite sure bout it). Still…..its so sad lah! I thought ‘Sam & Mikaela’ were about to get married…All of sudden this new actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (as Carly Spencer) casting in Transformers: Dark of the Moon..which I felt it doesn’t clique at all….HUHUHUHU….

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s acting was so bad…more like modeling & posing in the movie lor…The best thing is that, she wore white outfit most of the time and surprisingly she came out clean in almost every scene too!!! *Laughs*

Definitely Megan Fox scores higher. Don’t you think she is much hotter & natural?? Sorry; I don’t like ‘ma yoon cheong’.

If you did watched Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen, you will remember that Megatron got injured by Optimus Prime. This picture is the first screen appearance of Megatron in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. I was having a great laugh seeing that. Covering his face with this kain buruk. Hhahahah…look like the makcik selling nasi lemak. Ooppss… Anyway…robot do cares about their image.

There came a new Autobot in Transformers 3 – Sentinel Prime – former Autobot leader – and his creation, The Pillars. I thought this apek came with good intention…manatau…he is nyanyok! There was this scene, he throw tantrum and killed Ironhide…*cries*

I was thrilled by this scene. Shockwave – a new Decepticons in Transformers 3 doing the drilling. WOW!

Nah….what I’m trying to say here is there are reasons lead to pimples on your face.

Fact :

Tong Yuen (Rice Dumpling) @ 1+1 Kopitiam, Seremban

I was getting excited when I saw this newly hung banner at this 2-Story shop. There are serving tong yuen. Tong yuen (Rice Dumpling) is also my favorite. Or shall I say I love most of  desserts  made of glutinous rice flour. Not many eatery in Seremban serves tong yuen. Ya…I know I can easily purchase a packet of vacuum packed tong yuen from Supermarket and boil it myself. But most of the time, I’m just lazy to do it …

Therefore being lazy, I would prefer to get a ready to eat ones.

Aside from Tong Yuen, they do serve noodles, rice and tong sui.

Economy Fried Bihun + Mee – RM1.50 (without egg)

For an economy breakfast, this is not bad. Especially the sambal which is yummy.

Konlou Lou Shee Fun – RM4.00

Taste wise is good. However I would prefer if its ‘darker’ (more black soy sauce).

Hakka Mee – RM4.00

The Hakka Mee was surprisingly good lor. Noodles were tangy and minced pork were tasty!!

Rice Dumpling in Soya Bean – RM2.50(3 pcs)

These are homemade rice dumpling. Wasn’t too sure if the soy bean is homemade. Since its not too sweet…I like it!

Taa Daahh**drum rolls**….revealing the best part!! Rice Dumpling stuffed with peanuts. (My favorite ahhh!!)

Dinner @ After 5 Uptown Cafe, Seremban 2

Another new hangout place for the youngsters. Erm…I shouldn’t say it new anymore. Because previously it was closed for renovation and now it has resumed its business since 28th June 2011. I noticed the number of cafes started to bloom here in Seremban. Yah…that’s good for me

I visited this cafe before and after the renovation. I’m not too sure whether did the management changed as well. Apparently, the whole menu was totally different from last time. Moreover they no longer serving pork dishes. *SIGH* (I like porky wor….)

Yeap….its HALAL now!!

Honestly I do not like the new menu. I hardly decide what to eat. There wasn’t much choice for me to choose. Why?? 65% of the menu comprised of desserts and drinks. Snacks and main course are the remaining 35%.  *Geez*

By the way; minutes after the waitress took our order, then I remember that I should inform them to serve my dessert ‘after meal’. Unfortunately the waitress told me that my order already sent to the kitchen. Can’t change. **Huh…can’t do anything?? It was just like a minute wor…so fast they have done it meh???** Fine…I don’t blame her. Its the employer’s fault!! “Untrained staff”. Should ask  customers whether to serve dessert before or after meal….

Honeydew Pudding Snow – RM8.50 (recommended)

This ice dessert was served as the very first item. Being worried that the ice will melt fast; I was so hooked up to it. Bottom layer consist of pearls and sago then overlay with mango flavored pudding. Covered with crushed ice, smothered with fragrant gula melaka and topped with honeydew & passion fruit. Quite unique.

Grass Jelly with Taro Balls – RM5.90

Sorry to say….this is way different from SNOWFLAKES! Booo…

Need to improve… (I don’t mean to be bias ya)

At least this is better than my chicken chop rice ler..  The prawns were fresh. However I felt that the soup is alil bland. If only an extra pinch of salt to it would be even better.

Just ignored the Kimchi, the noodles would be great! Because the Kimchi taste weird.

Dinner @ Rakuzen, GTower

After meeting the GALS on Saturday at Pavilion ; I head to GTower as Alex’s friends were waiting for us there for dinner. “Somebody” misses Japanese so much therefore we chose Rakuzen at GTower.  I admit that I love Japanese food also. Since we were there early, getting seats wouldn’t be any problem. Ya…we even gotten a private room too. Guessed the staff knew it much earlier that this group of people would be NOISY!  Hmm…I certainly agreed. **Kawan kawan sekalian, sila perlahankan suara anda…jangan ketawa kuat sangat**

Rakuzen offers quality & authentic Japanese food. I noticed the expanding Japanese food over places in KL. Rakuzen, Hokkaido Ichiba, Zen and Kura they are all under the same management (Super Dining) offering different range of Japanese food.

I like the interior. Bright and cosy. The menu is pretty impressive too. Offers an extensive selection from starter to appetizer and dessert.

It may sound abit pricey. But you must try it to ensure the price is worth to pay. Because it taste different & much better compared to Sushi King’s.

The egg was very smooth. Extra credits to the crabstick, shitake mushroom, chicken meat and prawns hidden beneath.

Agedashi Tofu – RM12

Sorry, it was suppose to be 4 pieces. After eaten only I remember I forgotten to take a photo of it. For tofu lovers, you will like this. The tofu is very smooth with lightly crisp skin.

Nameko Soba – RM18

I wanted something light. Therefore I ordered this. The serving was so big that I couldn’t finish (dunno what’s wrong with my stomach that day). This wheat noodle was nicely cooked with flavorful soup.

Tenjyu – RM26

Japanese steamed rice topped with assorted tempura.

Sake Oyako Don – RM23

Japanese steamed rice topped with fresh salmon slices.

Teppanyaki Zen – RM38/set

Comes with a bowl of fragrant garlic fried rice, miso soup, steamed pumpkin, teppanyaki beef and some cut fruits.

Yakiniku Zen – RM36/set

Comes with a bowl steamed Japanese rice, miso soup, steamed pumpkin,  beef  slices and some cut fruits. The thinly sliced beef were nicely cook. The meat are tender and tasty!
