ZenQ Dessert @ Sunway Pyramid

We often heard about the popular Snowflake dessert. But these days we are getting more and more of the cloning ones. (sorry to say that). What I like most about these desserts is the ‘taro balls’. Originally from Taiwan. And I’ve had a good one at Jiufen, Taiwan. So, basically I’ll be grading them base on the ‘taro balls’. hehehe….then the pearls, then the milk tea.

I spotted ZenQ located near Burger King of Sunway Pyramid and I decided to give it a try. Well…actually I’m trying to compare if there’s anyone able to beat Snowflake.

ZenQ serving both cold and hot desserts. Not forgetting drinks as well.

The popular Taiwanese dessert, here I got myself a bowl of ZenQ MySignature for RM7.50. Beneath is the Grass Jelly ice, topped with a layer of Grass Jelly and complemented with their chewy brown sugar coated Pearls and the jelly-textured starch noodles. Not forgetting also Q Yuan (taro balls). Each color are made from different ingredient. Orange = Sweet Potato, White = Yam, Green = Green Tea/Matcha.

Added creamer.

A closer look on this ‘grass jelly series’. Since I’m emphasizing on the taro balls…I would say that ZenQ’s taro balls are below average. I felt that its lack of the ‘chewy-ness’ lar. Moreover I would suggest you not to add the creamer. It became so ‘pekat’ (concentrated) before I could finish half. **quite geli lor**

For drink, I’ve tried ‘Passion fruit Green Tea-RM4.90′ and ‘Aiyu Baby Pearl Winter Melon Tea-RM5.90′. I reckon ‘Aiyu Baby Pearl Winter Melon Tea’ is not bad. Aromatic winter melon tea and whereby you can chew the chewy baby pearls, crunchy basil seeds and jelly noodles.

***Unfortunately the dessert above did not meet my expectation….

OMG! I felt so outdated lah!

I usually watches movies from TGV cinema. To me TGV are more accessible.

I can’t remember when was my last visit to GSC. That must be quite sometime ago. Yesterday, Alex wanted to watch The Wedding Diary. It would be either we go Summit USJ Mall or Puchong IOI Mall, which are nearer to our staying place. Unfortunately, this movie is not shown in Summit USJ. Therefore we decided to choose GSC, Puchong IOI Mall. I made an online purchase through GSC website. (you are required to sign up an account in order to make an online purchase)

Same as TGV, I received a copy of confirmation number sent to my email address. It stated there ‘SelfPrint Ticket’. So, I printed a hardcopy and I assumed that should be my ticket. When we arrived at the cinema, I asked the ‘check-ticket boy’, whether can we enter using this ‘SelfPrint Ticket’. He then replied, yes…please scan here. I was like ‘Ohhh…thank you’…..(Wahh…now so Hi-tech edi le…..). At that point, I felt so outdated. Dunno since when they implemented this ‘hi-tech’ thing for e-ticketing.

For TGV e-ticketing…you’ll have to collect your movie tickets purchased at the selected cinema by producing confirmation ID of the transaction at the ticketing counter. See….its different.

Scan the Barcode on top right of page before entry. You may either you print the page or save it in your phone.

p/s : Don’t laugh at this ‘katak di bawah tempurung’ lady ya…Muahahha…

Tutti Frutti Froyo @ Seremban 2

Since my parent’s house is at Seremban 2, I would love to explore all the makan spot here (if possible). What I like about Seremban 2 is I don’t need to travel down town, yet still able to get most of the stuff here. ^^

Frozen Yogurt (Froyo) is getting popular these days. Everybody is cautious about the healthier way for desserts. Unfortunately, in Seremban we have very limited choice. Here, the recent one is Tutti Frutti. Its a franchise network which are growing very fast. In Malaysia….since year 2009 up to today, they have like around 104 outlets. Tutti Frutti (Malaysia ) is a company within the NAZA Group of Companies.

The Health Benefits of Froyo
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Prevents constipation, diarrhea and bloating
  • Prevents colon cancer
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Lowers cholesterol levels
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Improves mineral absorption
  • Prevents harmful bacteria
  • Promotes health bacteria and enzymes that are good for the body

What is special about Tutti Frutti?

Guess its because they have varieties of flavors and its self-served yogurt.

What does it mean by self-served yogurt?

Get a cup size (3 sizes to choose)–> Choose Flavor (pump your desired yogurt flavor from dispenser)–> Add Toppings (choose any toppings that you like from the counter)–> Weight and Pay.

A row of yogurt dispensers which able to control the temperature and consistency of these frozen yogurt. Each dispenser filled with different flavors.

Step 1 – Select a cup (from 3 sizes). The steps are clearly shown in the store. And the steps are as easy as ABC rite?

Step 2 – Dispense & Mix Frozen Yogurt. Chose the flavors and getting help from my brother to dispense into the cup. Well…you are able to mix many flavors in a cup too.

Assorted toppings. Looking colorful….

Step 3 – Pick Favorite Toppings. I want to add ‘nata de coco’! hehe…

Would you like to have some glazing??

Step 4 – Weigh & Pay.  Price is RM5.30/100g.

My cups of Froyo for the day. Sadly their Froyo is below average :-(

Not creamy. Not smooth. Not dense. Melts pretty quick too….

However its a nice place to hang out with friends and family. It will be fun to create your own cup of frozen yogurt!

Dinner @ Sumo Japanese Restaurant, USJ 9

On Valentine day……

Alex and I decided to dine out.

I was worried about the jam on road, therefore I tried to get a place which is not too far from our home. Then, I asked Wanyi for suggestion since she’s more familiar to places in Subang. I told her I wanted Japanese food. So, she suggested  Sumo Japanese Restaurant located at USJ 9, opposite Taipan Subang. She claimed that the food is nice and price is affordable too. Great! That would be around 15 minutes drive from my home.

The restaurant, owned by husband and wife team Paul Foong and Joanne Ong.

Though the restaurant is not very spacious, but we able to have our meal comfortably too. There’s a section where you can have more privacy. Probably for functions.

The working chef and his assistant. It was really a busy night for them. Customers were coming in and out of the restaurant. And I observed quite a number of them are the regular customers. Probably because the owner is friendly or the food is good??

The prices shown on the menu is quite reasonable too.

We were served Miso Soup each. (Included in the set we ordered)

Shishamo – RM9.90

**The boat is about to sail** Don’t you think these Sashimi looks pretty? Good presentation too.

Sashimi Mix Deluxe – RM46

The raw fish were fresh and I have no complain on this.

Chicken Teriyaki Sizzling – RM22.90

This dish is served with a bowl of rice. The portion was quite big. Somehow I felt it tasted a lil too sweet for me.

Special Bento (set) – RM31

Comes with sushi, tempura and chawanmushi. However both chawanmushi & tempura were just average only.

A closer look on the sushi. The sushi were not bad. While the rice are firm and won’t fall easily.

Green Tea Ice Cream with Red Bean – RM7.50

Last but not least…to end the meal with a satisfying dessert. Though I’m not really a great fan of green tea ice cream, but I do think that their green tea ice cream is good! Very creamy, smooth and has a good taste of green tea. It goes well with the red bean paste which is not too sweet.

My not so romantic HB surprised me with a bouquet of red roses.

Happy Valentine Day & Love you, Darling ^^

I return home from work and quickly get myself commit to the kitchen. ^^

Lunch @ Overtime Bar & Restaurant, Seremban

Honey…I’ll be home late, today..OVERTIME.

Definition of ‘Overtime’

-working time  before or after one’s regularly scheduled working hours; extra working time.

Today, the understanding of ‘Overtime’ is different.

Here, I’m referring to Overtime Bar & Restaurant. Its nothing related to work. Hence Overtime has became a popular hangout place. There are so many outlets in Klang Valley.

Overtime is known for their very own STARKER fresh beer. Starker fresh beer is made especially for Malaysian to have a taste of fresh beer that is rare especially in the Malaysian market. The taste palate of starker fresh beer is formulated to suit the lifestyle and eating habits of Malaysian to go well with most of Malaysia’s local cuisine.

Well…good news to Seremban folks. Overtime is now in Seremban. Open its door for business since end of year 2011.

The Interior.

Well..if you are here at night, you’ll be entertain with live band too.

During Chinese New Year break, me and my high school friends decided to meet at Overtime…(a new place for us here). Though everyone is busy all the time…we hardly meet. But we will usually try our best to at least meet during CNY.

We were there at 12pm(opening time). And they were having the promo of (buy 1 free 1 pint) from 12-7pm daily. Here I chose ‘Aromatic’. Golden yellow in appearance, a medium bodied beer with fresh fruity hints and herbal aroma. Malty-sweet in taste with apparent citrus notes, leading to a refreshingly clean and crisp after-taste.

Not bad…the taste wasn’t too strong and its smooth. For 1st timer…you may choose this.

Let’s see what we’ve ordered.

Sang Har Yi Mien – RM25

Crispy noodles soaked in flavorful sauce.

The gravy was just average while the prawn was not fresh.  =_=

Duck Alfredo – RM19

Fettuccine Pasta tossed in traditional Alfredo sauce with Parmesan cheese and topped with sliced smoked duck.

The smoked duck itself tasted quite well. While for pasta…*sigh* so bland!!

Crispy Pork Knuckle

Pork knuckle marinated in chef’s secret and deep fried until the skin is crisp.

(RECOMMENDED!) This is the best among the other 2 above. The skin is indeed crispy. While the meat is tender and not overcooked. Moreover the portion was BIG!

~~~~~~till me we meet again….
Lunch @ Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Midvalley
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man, (poot poot)
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man.
I’m strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I’m Popeye the Sailor Man.
CUT!!! Nahh….Not that Popeye, the sailor man. This is Popeyes *Louisiana Kitchen*, the well known franchise fast food restaurant. Serving its best Fried Chicken. Ashley been telling me how good about the food. Till 1 day, after so long…I finally got the chance to try. Some even said it tasted better than the well known Fried Chicken in Malaysia.
Lets see if that proven right.
A set of Chicken Meal consist of 2 pcs Spicy Fried Chicken with coleslaw, biscuit with jam and a regular size soft drink for RM10.90. Not really spicy though. But it was crispy, tasty and the meat is tender. Yet its not too oily. While, the biscuit is quite special and rare to see it in other fast food outlet. It has the texture quite similar to scone.
Chicken Sandwich (with Regular Size Soft Drink)RM8.20. Me likey very much! The fluffy bun sandwiched together with juicy fried chicken patty and fresh lettuce.  Simple yet delicious.
Chicken Rice Bowl (with Regular Size Soft Drink) – RM9.55.
Must have rice in your meal? Here, they may able to satisfy you. A bowl of perfectly cooked rice topped with chicken meat in tasty brown gravy.
Fish Bites – RM4.80
Nicely battered bite sizes of fish. So crispy and no fishy taste….
NOM NOM NOM…
4 pcs Wings – RM6.25
You don’t like the battered version? This is another alternative choice. Which is also a good one. Its tasty and its not dry.
Cajun Fries, the crispy fries with Cajun seasoning is simply irresistible!(texture is quite similar to curly fries)
Mashed Potato (Large) – RM5.20.
One should never miss ordering this mashed potato! Once eaten you’ll definitely falling in love (just like myself). I couldn’t resist the rich brown gravy filled with minced chicken while the mashed potato is so smooth.
Chocolate Surprise – RM4.25.
Sorry, don’t really like the dessert. There were 3 different flavors. All in a small cup. The other 2 flavors are Tiramisu & Strawberry Cheesecake.
So, lets head on to the nearest Popeyes to experience it yourself ;-)
Lunch @ Tokyo Don, Pavilion KL
Located at Level 6, nestled in Tokyo Street….I found this small restaurant named Tokyo Don.
Tokyo Don
Specializing in Donburi (general term for ‘bowl’), Tokyo Don serves the popular Japanese ‘rice in a bowl’ with varied dishes served on top. Diners can choose from a list of options which include Oyakodon (simmered chicken, egg and onion on rice), and Gyudon (beef and onion on rice), among others. Situated beside its sister restaurant, Tokyo Teppan, cross-ordering can also be made between both outlets.
A menu is displayed at the entrance.
The Interior.
The simple menu consist around 20 over types of food. A quick one, Alex & I ordered from the Set Menu.
From the Set we both ordered, Alex was served with a bowl of salad while mine was served a bowl of tofu. I recalled the dense block of cold tofu was good. It has nice taste of soy milk.
Hokkai-Don – RM28
A bowl of Japanese Rice topped with fresh slices of Salmon and also fresh Salmon roe. (pop pop)….*thumbs up*
*a closer look. Are you drooling??
Edo (Seafood) – RM38
A set of teppanyaki meal. Inclusive of a bowl of fragrant garlic rice, vege(bean sprout & cabbage), miso soup and the perfectly grilled salmon, scallop & prawns.
*look closely* fresh and succulent seafood!!
Chawanmushi – RM12
Though the price is a lil on higher side for an ordinary size of chawanmushi, but trust me this chawanmushi is really good! Super smooth! Yummy~~~~
On Chinese New Year……2012
Hey Yo…..The fiery dragon is back!!
On this year of dragon…everything oso dragon dragon….luckily people can’t keep dragon as pet…else, I’m pretty sure pet shops will be doing good business.
Though I have limited time,
but I tried my best to at least did a simple CNY deco in my home. A vase of artificial Azalea placed on the TV console.
Then I placed some small lanterns around the vase.
Tangerines are everywhere!
CNY must have tangerines oso ma…
I go for the sweet ones (dunno who lar, will go for the sour ones).
So, I got myself a basket of mini tangerines and also some XL size ‘pong kam’. (many sizes…you want XXL oso got).
New clothes—> Checked!
New shoes —> Checked!
Ang Paos —> Checked!
All checked and into my luggage it goes. Where to? Balik kampung…..to HB’s hometown of cos. (Sarikei, Sarawak).
Then we took a flight home.
Everybody Can Fly! (Air Asia’s motto)
The flight journey from KL to Sibu Airport took around 2 hours.
Not forgetting, the flight fare during festive season is really ridiculous. Can even fly to overseas during off-peak season. Therefore, I usually buy my ticket around 1 year before hand. (Ohh…should I start booking my ticket for next year’s CNY??)
On eve of CNY, people usually have family reunion dinner. A table full of auspicious & delicious dishes. (No photo here…..too busy filling my stomach).
Then by midnight, you will see the sky is just like falling meteor rain. Fireworks everywhere. (Guess the birds should be at home by that time).
I don’t need to crowd with people during countdown of New Year. I still can watch these during CNY.
Beautiful Fireworks
Woke up earlier on first day of CNY.
Uhh…looking fresh ….
The married couples are suppose to give ang pao (red packet) to the children or people whom are not married (single).
My 2nd year to distribute ang pao (like a god of prosperity leh….)
A bowl of Mee Suah (rice noodle) with rice wine cooked by Mother In Law during Chinese New Year and its eaten for breakfast. It was a good one!! Mee Suah symbolize longevity.
A common practice by the Hokkiens and Foo Chow-nese.
I still practice the house visiting (pai nin). Visit friends. Go each house…eating the almost similar food (soft drinks, prawn crackers, layer cakes, cookies). Then at the end I feel like having a bowl of hot noodle.
If you are celebrating CNY at Sarawak….you will never miss the chance of trying these delicious layer cakes (kek lapis). Its common seen in every house. However the price is expensive. Because the process of making this cake  is quite tedious and time consuming.
Waaahhhh…..Can I finish the whole tray??? Of cos not la!! Goshhh….these are real fattening wey….
 Again….Wish everyone “GONG XI FA CAI” & “Have a Prosperous New Year”
An Early Lou Sang @ Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant, Puchong
An early ‘lou sang’ dinner session with my family this this year.
Hubby brought us to Cheong Wah Seafood Restaurant, Puchong. The restaurant was offering Chinese New Year Menu. Since there were 6 just of us, so they recommend us to this set menu serves for 4-6 pax. For 4-6 pax, there were 2 different sets. Slightly different in terms of dish & price.
We decided to go for the set which cost RM328 nett.
The Interior. It was quite crowded after 7+pm. Better to make a reservation or be early during this festive season.
Yee Sang (Prosperity Toss), an auspicious dish during Chinese New Year. Colorful and crunchy crackers, pickles, pomelo, thin salmon slices. All these are mixed with the plum sauce.
Getting ready to toss…toss the higher the better. I want wish for more money! Wahahahaha……I’m money minded… $$$$$$
Hardly see the microscopic salmon slice.
Shark Fin Soup
Marmite Prawns were fresh and delicious.
Steam Cod Fish in Supreme Sauce
Crispy Roast Duck was quite good.
Lotus Leaf Rice – so so only….portion so small!!
Braised Vegetables
For dessert, we were served longan (longan in syrup from can)…..very normal.
Verdict : For the price paid and the food we got…I felt that the set menu is kinda expensive.
