Product Review : Miss Hana Water Proof Gel Eyeliner

Women needs makeup to make them look outstanding, beautiful and confident! Apart from the basic foundation and blusher, what is the one beauty product that you think you MUST have?

For me it would be an eyeliner. Eyeliner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes. When one mentioned “I want to have alluring eyes!”…there’s where the eyeliner played the role. Because eye contact is important.

Let me prove it to you….

Check the above comparison. So, you understand what I meant right?

Today, introducing you to this wallet friendly eyeliner.

Miss Hana Water Proof Gel Eyeliner claimed to be Taiwan #1 Eye Liner Gel Pencil!

Once again big thank to Natta Cosme for this awesome gift containing 4nos Miss Hana Water Proof Gel Eyeliner of different shades. And a sharpener (will show you when to use it). Let me show you the awesome-ness of these eyeliners. :-)

What’s your main concern or criteria when you choose an eyeliner?

Smudge free, waterproof and easy application are my main concerns. In our humid country…. we tend to sweat alot. Therefore smudge free and waterproof is important. I don’t want to look like a zombie after sweating. haha….

Miss Hana Water Proof Gel Eyeliner comes in 4 shades.

All 4 shades matches our Asian complexion. For natural day look, I’ll choose brown (earth tone). While black I’ll keep for night or when I want to create a smokey eye.

Both Galaxy Black & Golden Brown has this shimmering effect.

Lets do a few test to prove that its smudge free and waterproof.

#test it under the running tap water. No fading

#rub the colors using my fingers. Color stays.

#removable using a makeup removal product

Above I was using Night Black.

Above I was using Choco Brown.

Miss Hana Water Proof Gel Eyeliner is lightweight. The texture enables you to give a beautiful, neat and precise stroke.

Ops…what should I do when the eyeliner tip is blunt?

Use an eyeliner pencil sharpener to do the job. Turn the pencil at least one full cycle to ensure that you will have completely fresh eyeliner. #easy

Tip: Minimize the breakage of your eyeliner pencil by cooling it down prior to sharpening it. You can place your eyeliner pencil in the refrigerator or freezer for an hour, or you can simply store your eyeliner pencil in the refrigerator or freezer so it is always ready for sharpening when you are. If you ignore this step, you may find that your eyeliner pencil will break and crumble when you sharpen it.

I’ve found an eyeliner which gave me WOW and satisfaction. Despite the rich and long lasting color, its easy to remove using a makeup removal. No worries. For people who has oily eyelid…you’ll be happily owning this. Remember what I’ve mentioned earlier…its wallet friendly!! So, why not give it a try today? Trust me… it will not disappoint you.

Affordable Set Lunch @Tappers Cafe

“The concept of Tappers Café drew its inspiration from Malaysia’s colonial heritage and the popular “snack bars” of the late 60s and early 70s where Hainanese chefs whipped out irresistibly delicious local and western cuisine in a sober colonial air-cooled setting.”

Tappers Café may not be something new to some of you. There are several outlets in Klang Valley. This was my first time trying their food. Coincidentally I was at One City Mall… I was looking for a place to have a simple lunch, then I saw their set lunch menu which I thought the pricing is quite affordable.

The set lunch is available daily from 11am – 2pm. It comes together with a drink. Currently there are offering 16 different types of set lunch on their menu. Apart from that, they also offers breakfast sets too.

Check out their set lunch menu HERE

IMG_7588Drinks are included in the set lunch. Just pay for one price. Choice of drinks were Honey Lemon/ Lemon Tea/ Lime Juice/ Goo Leng Ping.

IMG_7587Chicken Parmigiana – RM13.90

Mozarella & Parmesan cheese melt over breaded chicken in spaghetti tomato sauce served with chips and coleslaw.

~no complain on this~

IMG_7585Roast Chicken – RM13.90

Roast Chicken marinated with bbq sauce served with roast potato and coleslaw.

~Oppss…. the potatoes more like boiled potato than roast potato. Apart from that the roast chicken was nice.~

IMG_7586Tappers Hainanese Chicken Chop – RM13.90

Northern Hainan style chicken chop served with potato & peas.

~generous portion of  chicken fillet. Tasty and nice. But I would preferred if they deep fried the potato wedges. The above boiled potatoes were sort of undercooked.~

Long Break

Greeting to all my readers.
Sorry for not blogging for more than a month.
Reason is that I am still on maternity leave (2 months) and will return to work in 2 weeks time.

I have safely delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 3.35kg on 22 January 2014, 2 weeks earlier before the estimated due date.

Hello everyone…my name is Wong Shin Jet.

It has been a long journey till today. The photo above was captured during week 36 of my pregnancy. It ain’t easy walking around with a huge belly towards the end of the pregnancy. Yet I could still drag myself to go shopping. Hehe…..

Looking at him…. sometimes made me this for real? I am a mother now? This is my baby? I would say that there are many things no longer the same as before. I am adapting to it. I am learning new stuffs everyday. I know now my baby need me the most!

When he is asleep, I am the happiest person. That means I could sleep too… hehe…

Product Review : Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera & Thayers Cucumber With Hazel with Aloe Vera

Have you heard of this phrase “you are what you eat”?

It means your health, looks, and well-being result from the kinds of food you consume.

Same goes to our skin. Our skin will look good if we take good care of it.

3 basic steps for facial skincare involves cleanse, tone and moisturize.

Thank you Natta Cosme for sending me these 2 bottles of toner ‘Made in the USA with only American Ingredients‘ named Thayers.

Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Made with rose-petal water, Vitamin E and proprietary Witch Hazel extract (derived from the bark). Witch Hazel helps to tighten pores, and to smooth and beautify skin without drying.

Price : RM58 RM45

2014-01-18_15.14.15Both having different scent and ability. Rose Petal acts as an antioxidant while cucumber has good cooling effect. Therefore I use cucumber for day, and rose for night. hehe…..

IMG_7632-001Why do you need a toner after cleansing your face?

It will get rid of any traces of cleanser remaining on your skin, temporarily shrink pores and may even give a moisturizing effect, depending on the ingredients in the toner.

Apply toner on a cotton pad or ball and just swipe all over your skin again paying special attention to areas such as the sides of your nose.

- Huge content, 355ml…can last very long.

- Vintage like packaging.

- Clear, translucent water based toner, non-sticky.

- I am happy to see this sentence ‘Alcohol-Free Toner’ is printed on the bottle. Because I am quite concern about toner with alcohol content.

- Definitely love the natural and organic contents which doesn’t harm our skin.

- Probably because its formulated with aloe vera, therefore it works well in soothing and moisturizing. I noticed that my T-zone is less oily now.

My Dislike

- The leaking problem from the lid. Not advisable to place in your traveling bag. I transferred it to a spray bottle instead.

Dinner @ Inaho Sushi, Skypark OneCity USJ, Subang Jaya

It was on Christmas day and also Alex’s birthday. I decided to treat him dinner.

There’s this newly opened mall in our neighborhood. So, we pay a visit to One City Mall located at USJ25, Subang Jaya. Nothing much to shop right now… but I noticed there are numbers of restaurants here. More choice on food.

We were then aware of their ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ located at 10th floor. Go up via the glass lift! ‘The Sky, Sky Dining & Chill Out Hub’ also claimed as Biggest Rooftop F&B Area by the Malaysia Book of Records.

We were quite impressed about the Sky Dining here. I meant the atmosphere and view. There is a Sports Bar, a Japanese Restaurant, a K-pop inspired Korean Restaurant(opening soon), a Thai Restaurant, a Restaurant cum Bar designed in nautical theme and a Live Bar (opening soon).

Therefore we end up settling our dinner at Inaho because Hb decided to go for Japanese food.

1506744_10151974842217740_1723310561_nBefore our dinner, we even went for a movie at Premium-X Cinemas @ One City. More info about this cinema HERE. Other than the usual TGV, GSC, this cinema is quite classy I felt. Although the movie hall was rather small, but the seats (in leather) were quite comfortable and the sound system wasn’t too bad either. Ohh ya…ticket price was RM13 for new movies.

View of the Sky Park.

It was their first opening day during Christmas day. This is their 2nd outlet. Understand that their first outlet is located at The Curve Damansara.

We purposely choose a seat here (outdoor) rather than indoor just to enjoy the evening breeze and the view. Something different ma…. hehe…

My view. Onlooking USJ ^_^

Just like other chain Japanese restaurants offering set meals, ala-carte dishes and desserts. Inaho is also ‘pork-free’.

1503374_10151972462232740_817222302_nWhile waiting for food to arrive. Cam-whore is the Asians habit rite?? LOL!

Started our meal with Ebiten Roll (Prawn Tempura Roll)RM18

Hb’s favorite, Shishamo. I want to LOL at this plate of shishamo. So skinny and ‘kecut’. Life must be tough… :-D :-D

Another appetizer, Yakitori Moriawase (Grilled Meat on Skewers)RM16 Comes with minced chicken ball, chicken’s skin, chicken meat and chicken liver. Unfortunately the yakitori was lack of flavors. Meat wasn’t tasty and I felt they should grill a lil longer.

Tori Nabe (Chicken Hot Pot)RM22 was good for sharing. Portion was quite big I felt. This was not bad. As you can see, there are alot of ingredients in the pot. The soup was tasty too.

One of the Inaho Set that we ordered was Salmon Sashimi SetRM22. Comes together with salad, salmon sashimi, rice and miso soup.

Thick slices of salmon sashimi were served.

Their opening promo. Since we ordered one of the Inaho Set, we were given a free scoop of green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was quite smooth.

To end my meal, I also ordered a dessert. Ichigo Parfait (Strawberry Parfait)RM16. made by layering whipping cream, cornflakes, strawberries in a clear glass, and topping with ice cream.

My verdict: Good in term of pricing and food portion. Prices were okay with that serving size. However the food was just average.

Twelve Cupcakes @Sunway Pyramid

I noticed this cupcake shop when I happens to be in Sunway Pyramid. Being a sweet tooth person, I got attracted by the varieties of cupcakes sold here. However I was kiamsiap to make any purchase. LOL!!

Then, one day I read about twelve cupcakes reviewed by Sean. He wrote some positive feedback about the cupcakes. (Located next to Wendy’s, facing the ice skating rink. )

Twelve Cupcakes, Singapore’s award-winning cupcakery. These freshly baked cupcakes are handmade from scratch every day. At Sunway Pyramid is their first outlet available in Malaysia. Next, will be opening soon at One Utama Shopping Mall and Midvalley Megamall.

So, I took 1 step forward to make my purchase. Not many lar…. I only bought 3 to try. hehehe…..But I stood in front of the display glass for several minutes because I couldn’t decide which to choose. All flavors look yummy to me. There are some special flavors made for every month.

Assorted flavors. Spoil with choice.

The above 12 flavors are available daily. Price of each cupcake is RM6. While for special flavors is RM7 each. RM34 for 1/2 dozen and RM66 for 1 dozen.

A kind reminder about the cupcakes.

I had a heavy dinner on that day. So, I kept these cupcakes for the following day. It was still good and tasted nice although I kept it overnight.

From left:-

Fluffy peanut butter frosting on a moist
chocolate cupcake. This is peanut butter like
you’ve never tried it – really smooth!
Fluffy vanilla cream cheese on a classic red velvet. This is our bestseller and a must-try!
Chocolate cream cheese on a moist
chocolate cupcake. Chocolate lovers
love this.

Cupcakes are sometimes too sweet (tooth killer) because of the overly sweet frosting. But not for the cupcakes here. I felt the sweetness are just nice. The cakes are moist too. I was very satisfied with all 3 flavors I’ve chose. I wanna buy again!! Hahaha…..

My technique of eating cupcake just like THIS. Cut the cake into 1/2 then sandwich it. Less messy this way…. ;-)

Lunch @Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul, Paradigm Mall

Penang is famous for Teochew Cendol.

Unfortunately I’ve not tried before, and my last trip to Penang was years ago. How sad and embarrassing. T_T

However I consider this as good news because the famous Teochew Cendol has now opened its outlet at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya. It would be great for KL folks!

Its just a small section located at lower ground floor in front of Tesco supermarket. This place was crowded during lunch hour even on weekdays!

Originally located at Lebuh Keng Kwee and only later known as Penang Road Famous TeoChew Chendul.

A short and simple menu is displayed at the ordering counter. Order and pay here, get a number and the worker will bring your food to your table.

Lets begin with their specialty. Looks like everybody are here for this. That goes without saying…because I saw everyone eating it. I would love to try the original one without any additional stuffs. You can have the one with White Coffee, Durian, Cempedak or Ice Cream. For a bowl of Original Teochew Chendul, it is priced at RM4.90. I would give 10/10 (based on my own taste) for this bowl of chendul. Because it meets my satisfaction from the green worm-like jelly (thin strands and not too hard), red beans & kidney beans were properly cooked and lastly sufficient and fragrantful gula melaka!

Then we ordered a plate of Rojak (RM6.90) to share. The ingredients for this rojak was fruits (mango, pineapple), cucumber, taufu pok, cuttlefish tossed with rich fermented shrimp paste and sprinkled with crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. The rojak was nice I felt.

Only 2 types of noodles are served here. So I tried the Assam Laksa (RM7.90), no kick at all. Kinda unsatisfying lor…. :-(

Then, my brother had the Penang Curry Mee (RM7.90). I felt the curry mee is at least better than my assam laksa. But I would prefer it spicier. Extra sambal please…. ;-)

So, are you craving for a bowl of chendul at this hour? hehe…..

Product Review : CERRO QREEN Fashion Makeup Brush Set – Green ( 10 pcs )

YAY! Thank you Natta Cosme for giving this opportunity to review a nice set of make up brush!

The brushes are enclosed in this purely white color pouch alike an envelope. Its made of PU leather.

I like its sleek and elegant design. Moreover its handy and convenient for traveling purposes too.

Untie the string to discover these nicely arranged brushes. Each brush has its own purposes.

*trying to imitate a make up artist* I always envy as a make up artist, they usually own a bag/pouch filled with plenty of brushes meant for make up. Obviously I may not be familiar when it comes to that much of brushes.  But CERRO QREEN Fashion Makeup Brush Set – Green ( 10 pcs ) would certainly meets your needs for a basic make up. They are easily to be recognized too. What’s more is that, you can own this good quality brushes with an affordable price. (Will reveal the price at the bottom page)

The brush comes in duo-tone. The shape and size made it easy to handle.

Its also available in purple, black and yellow color.

1) Powder Brush
2) Blush Brush
3) Foundation Brush
4) Big Eyeshadow Brush
5) Eyelash Comb
6) Small Eyeshadow Brush
7) Eyebrow Brush
8) Eyeliner Brush
9) Fan Brush
10) Lip Brush

Okay…lets begin our make up with a clean and moisturized face…

Start with the Foundation Brush (3). Pump a small amount of foundation on your hand, the use this foundation brush as an applicator. Also able to blend well over your face.

Foundation Brush : Fiber
 Brush Length : 15cm
 Hair Length : 2.9cm

Next, I will go with loose powder. Using Powder Brush (1) as an applicator to create a matte look.

Powder Brush - Goat and Fiber
 Brush Length : 17cm
 Hair Length : 4.6cm

For a natural look, use neutral tones like earthy browns. Sweep across eyelids up to below brow bone using the Big Eyeshadow Brush(4) as a highlighter. Then use Small Eyeshadow Brush (6) to apply the darker shade of eyeshadow start at the outer corner of the eye and work the shadow along the crease and the edge of the lid.

Big Eye Shadow Brush - Horse Hair
 Brush Length : 15cm
 Hair Length : 2cm

Small Eye Shadow Brush - Horse Hair
 Brush Length : 5cm
 Hair Length : 0.9cm

I use the Fan Brush (9) to fan off excess powder and fallen eyeshadow.

Fan Brush - High Quality Goat Hair
 Brush Length : 16.8cm
 Hair Length : 3.3cm

Next, if you are using a cream eyeliner you’ll probably need the assistance of Eyeliner Brush (8) to draw a line along the lash line.

Eyeliner Brush - Fiber
 Brush Length : 13.5cm
 Hair Length : 0.6cm

For eyes part, after you are done with eyeshadow and eyeliner… you may need to apply mascara to make your eyes stand out. Using an Eyelash Comb (5) is to brush off clumps after you applied mascara. Ya…its like combing your eyelashes. ;-)

Lash Comb - Nylon
 Brush Length : 15.5cm

Blush gives you a rosy glow. While smiling, apply blush using Blush Brush (2) to the apples of the cheeks and blend back toward the hairline. Make sure its spread evenly using the brush :-)

Blush Brush - Goat Hair
 Brush Length : 16cm
 Hair Length : 3.4cm

For eyebrow, I preferred using dark brown color. Using a small angled Eyebrow Brush (7) , follow the shape of the eyebrow and fill it in to enhance your natural brow line.

Eyebrow Brush - Fiber
 Brush Length : 13.5cm
 Hair Length : 0.6cm

Lastly, not forgetting to add some color to your lip. The Lip Brush (10) – which look alike a piece of crayon is actually the casing for this brush. Using this lip brush to apply and blend the lip color evenly.

Lip Brush – Fiber
Brush Length : 9.5cm
Hair Length : 1cm

Each and every brushes are made of different materials. Fortunately it do not stinks unlike some brushes. I like that the bristles are soft yet dense. Overall I’m quite satisfied with this set of brush in terms of quality, design and value for money!

Lunch @Italiannies, The Gardens Mall

My latest meet up with my girlfriends was lunch at Italiannies, The Gardens Mall. It has been a long time since the last time I dine in Italiannies. I had a good experience with the food and service at Italiannies, Sunway Pyramid back then.

Italiannies, The Gardens has relocate to this new location. One floor below the previous location. Pretty spacious.

Nic and I arrived first. So, we decided to get a seat while we wait for Ash & Yi to come. While waiting, we were served with these complimentary bread. Next to it is a plate filled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

This is currently new on their menu. 7 wonders of pizza. Upon ordering pizza from this menu, you can add on drink (mountain dew pitch black) or dessert (panna cotta) at a cheaper price.

We chose Barbeque Smoked Duck Pizza (RM35.90)

Smoked duck breast with a barbeque base, topped with peaches, onions, chili flakes, mozzarella cheese & arugula.

Thin and crispy crust. I like the smoked duck breast. But I thought the topping could be a lil extra. Don’t you think the topping is too sikit?

Quattro Platter (RM37.90)

A combination of risotto balls, calamari, fried lemon cheesy balls and zucchini strings. Complete with Marinara sauce and Alfredo sauce for dipping.

This was served as ‘starters’. Quattro Platter is ideal for sharing. I like everything that was served on this plate. Except for fried lemon cheesy balls. I find that the cheese taste was too strong. May be because I’m not really a cheese person :-D

Classic Carbonara (RM37.90) - Regular

Fettuccine pasta tossed in Parmesan cream sauce with smoked beef bacon chicken and fresh button mushroom.

The al-dente Carbonara Fettucine was nice and not too cloying. However we were quite surprise that a popular Italian restaurant uses ready made pastas that we could easily purchase in boxes from the supermarket instead of doing from scratch. Is this a common practice in other Italian restaurants too?

Nic kept her promise and brought us her homemade kimchi. It was very nice. I had almost half of it. hahaha…. *janji ditepati*! TQ Nic :-)

Ash on the other hand also planned to bring some muffins. Unfortunately, she said the result of her muffins were not pretty. So, she decided not to bring. Its okay….. we can still sample them in future rite? hehe….

Overall : The food was not bad. Unfortunately the service was quite bad. In terms of when we asked for a glass of plain water, we gotto ask again and again from different person because its like so difficult to serve a glass of water. When came to bill…. we were told dunno what system was down. So, they gotto do manual calculation, via calculator. Calculate the wrong amount for us! Aduhhh….

Let’s not ruin the day with some petty stuffs. Our group photo together with our ‘big boss’ Abel jai! LOL!

We saw benefit was having a roadshow and there was a nice pastel color backdrop. We thought it would be nice to use as the background for our group photo. Unfortunately we couldn’t ‘catch’ anyone to take photo for us. So, we ended up cam-whoring ourselves. LOL!

My Home Cooking: Chinese Five Spice Chicken Wings & Passion Fruit Agar-Agar

Last week; I tried out 2 simple dishes that you could easily try at home. I consider them as easy home cooked food. When I say easy…. I suppose its consider easy lar… LOL!

Chinese Five Spice Chicken Wings

(recipe by Ang Sarap) check out his blog for nice cooking recipes :-)

1 kg chicken wings
1 tbsp five spice powder
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1. In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients except the water, set it aside and let chicken marinate for at least 6 hours.

2013-11-28 20.43.49The after marination wings. This were only half portion…the other half already into the wok ready to be cook.

As required; 1kg of chicken wings… the chicken wings that I bought from supermarket were quite big. So all together, I got around 6 pieces of whole wing.

2013-11-28 20.44.102. Place everything in a wok together with the water. Turn heat to high then bring to a boil, while boiling turn chicken once in a while to make sure its cooked evenly, let the liquid thicken then set the heat to low. This might take around 8-10 minutes.
3. Once liquid is thick, turn heat to low so it does not burn, turn the chicken once in a while to coat it evenly. At this point a small amount of oil is extracted from the chicken wings, stir fry chicken for a minute (add oil if needed), remove from wok then serve.

2013-11-28 21.13.13Ta..dah…. the juice, succulent and tasty Chinese Five Spice Chicken Wings ready to serve. You too can try this at home :-)

Passion Fruit Agar-Agar

2013-12-01 19.07.35

I got this idea by someone who posted on the internet. I couldn’t remember the website. Too bad…couldn’t credit the creator :-(

Do you like passion fruit? I like passion fruit but those we got here are usually sour. I still remember the passion fruit I had in Indonesia was big, juicy and sweet! Not forgetting they are selling cheap too. Unlike here. I bought a pack from market cost RM7!

passion fruits

agar-agar powder

1. Wash and cut the passion fruits into 1/2. Using a spoon, scrap the passion fruit flesh into a bowl. Scrap it clean like ‘photo below’.

Place these cleaned passion fruit on a tray. I am going to use them as the agar-agar mould.

2. Follow the instructions at the back of the agar-agar powder (you can easily buy from supermarket), dissolve the agar-agar powder with water & sugar in a boiling pot, bring to boil.

3. Since we are going to add passion fruit’s flesh+juice…therefore, I am using 2 glass of water + 1 glass of passion fruit flesh with juice. Add sugar accordingly, because the sweetness may varies depending on the passion fruit.

4. Bring the dissolved ingredients (step 3) to boil. Boil for few minutes over low heat. Then pour into moulds (the passion fruit shells). Allow it to cool for awhile before you chill or refrigerate them.

2013-12-01 21.46.28
